Health and Safety
From April 1st 2000, to renew your CPCS operator card, you will have to take a short health and safety touch screen test. |
|
The test will consist of 40 multiple choice questions, taken from a substantial list, relating to all aspects of health & safety in construction.
A complete list of questions will be available in the publication, which can be bought for £8.49 at any Browns or Smiths Books Shops or £7.99 from Amazon.co.uk. Which will help you to pass if you study this book for your test.
To book your health and safety touch screen test telephone 0870 6004020 or visit the online website at www.cskills.org/health_safety
WHY INTRODUCE TESTING?
As legislation and regulations in the construction industry start to be felt, there is a need to introduce a method of assessment to provide evidence that individuals have knowledge of safe working practices.
Introducing a test, independent of training allows you to decide, with guidance, how much training you need to reach the required standard. You can also decide the method of training.
On passing the test, you will have proved your level of knowledge of health & safety in the construction industry.
HOW?
After booking your health & safety test, you will attend the agreed test centre at the allocated time.
An administrator will welcome you to the centre. Confirm your identity and show you what to do.
The test will be taken by sitting in front of the touch sensitive screen and pressing the screen to indicate your answer for each question.
There will be a practice session to guide you through the process before you take the actual test.
An administrator will offer help and advice (not relating to the answers) if you have difficulties in progressing through the test.
There will be 40 minutes to answer 40 questions.
For candidates who do not use English as a first language, translated versions of the test will be available by prior arrangement.
For those candidates who have are dyslexic or have other reading difficulties, an English voice-over will operate so you can hear the test read out through headphones (this will be offered to all candidates at the time of booking).
At the end of the test you will be given a print-out of the results and guidance on the next action to take.
